Tuesday Ten (Inspired by Lisa Warren)

I love reading Lisa's Tuesday 10 and today thought I'd share mine.

Ten weird facts about you
  1. I love pineapple but only tinned pineapple.  Can't stand the fresh stuff
  2. I am a clean freak.
  3. I buy LOTS of glossy magazines.  Mainly scrapbooking and cooking and I love to read them from cover to cover.
  4. I love to read and am part of a book club. I usually hate the books they choose but read them because it's nice to try different things.  I'm a chick lit girl.
  5. I have a total of 7 siblings (my dad has been married and divorced 3 times)
  6. I can't fall asleep unless the tv is on in the background
  7. I don't like change.  I enjoy routine.
  8. My favourite casual attire is a pair of cargo pants or jeans and a t-shirt
  9. I have only just started to drink water.  I've never liked it until recently.
  10. I dream of holidaying somewhere like Scotland in the middle of winter with an open fire, a view of rolling hills on one side and the freezing sea on the other, a comfy window seat, a throw rug and a good book.
Share your ten weird facts and leave me a comment so I can pop over and learn more about you

Happy Birthday

On Saturday we celebrated my MIL's birthday.  The kids had a fun visit together (even if it was a quick one).  There is nothing quite like meeting your cousins at your Nanny' and Poppy's house for a play.  Brings back my own childhood memories......so fun :)

Here's a pic of the kids with their Nanny.  Love it!

what's happening in my world....

so much going on right now.

I started my new role as Property Manager at work this week.

so right now I am living and breathing rental properties.  I've had 3 massive days and I'm loving every minute of it.

In order for me to be able to do this job and do it well my wonderful husband has had to take on a little bit extra for the next couple of weeks so that I can work late to get on top of things at the office.  I love him so much!!

Abbey has settled back into school really well and loves being in year 3.  She thinks her year 3 teacher is "the best and is so pretty".  I'm just happy that she's happy.  She is currently preparing for her very first Naplan test and is pretty confident she's gonna do OK.
I went to book club with my gal pals this week and had a lovely dinner and chat.  The book was....

I still have about 15 pages to go.  It's just been impossible to finish it this week but I'll get there.

That's my last couple of days covered.  It's been hectic but I'm loving every minute of it.  Looking forward to a rest on the weekend to recharge and spend some time with my family.

Until next time,
Shell xx

I know I'm sharing all of these out of order but it's just whatever file I happen to grab next from the folder.  Tonight I'm sharing Week 2 of my 52 weeks of me album.  This particular week all I did was read.  Sometimes you just can't put a book down and this was one of those times.

Week 6

Over the weekend I was catching up on my 52 weeks of me album.  During week 6 I attended a corporate awards dinner.  The first one I've been to since starting my new job.  I now know why my boss was so insistant that I attend.....I won an award - go me!!  (I have blocked out my journaling - I don't want the world to know where I work)

A fun letter B

After much debate we stuck with something very simple and fun for the letter B of our Alphabet Weekends.  We decided to go bowling.  I normally don't enjoy bowling but they had the lights off and the 80's tunes pumping and I don't mind saying, I had a ball (pardon the pun).  Daniel decided it would be funny for me not the have bumpers but didn't warn me.  Needless to say I got a gutter ball the first go so yeah...I ended up with bumpers after that but I still got beaten.  I don't know what it is, I'm just no good at ten pin bowling.

All 3 of us are really enjoying out Alphabet weekends so far and the letter C will be upon us in a week....got any ideas?

We've made 3 new rules:
1.  It can't cost more that $120
2. All 3 of us have to join in - even if we don't particularly like the idea of that activity
3. It has to be something we haven't done before or a place we haven't been to before

My idea is canoeing.  Will wait until Sunday when we're all home to talk to the family about it.

I'll leave you with our B pics.  Can't wait to get these printed and scrapped this weekend.

Leave me a comment and let me know what your ideas are for "C"

Alphabet weekends { the letter B }

So this weekend is the second weekend of our Alphabet Weekends and we're doing the letter B. I'm looking for some ideas . So far we have:

* Beach
* Bowling
* Buddhist Temple (thanks Lis)
Daniel really wants to go and watch the Dragons play the Rabbitohs. He's trying to think of something associated with that game that begins with b lol

If you think of something please leave me a comment.

Thought I'd pop in ....

and post a couple of my most recent layouts.

This is my entry for the Word Challenge at Challenge Heaven this month which is to use the word Happy in your title as well as use a scalloped edge somewhere.  This is my week 4 of my 52 weeks of me album using the Evanthe kit from Storyboard Kits and an old sketch by Inspired Blueprints.

 This is my entry for the Colour Challenge at Challenge Heaven which was to use Summer colours that are bright and fresh as well as using paint on your layout.  This layout is also my first in my new album called Alphabet Weekends.  A for Action Park.  Next weekend is B. Wonder what we're gonna do.

I'm enjoying doing the 8.5x11 layouts so much that I'm considering not doing 12x12 anymore.  It's so nice to do something different.

I know it's been a month since I posted anything but I did say I was taking a step back :)  If you're still popping in, please leave me a comment to let me know you were here.

taking a step back

right now I feel a little like the woman in the picture above.  I'm juggling a lot of things and trying to do them all well.  It's not working out as well as I wish it would so something's gotta give.  I need to step back from a couple of things in order to achieve balance in my life so I'll be taking a step back from blogging for now.  I'm taking this 'One little Word' thing seriously....I just can't be everywhere at the same time.

I am on facebook if you'd like to look me up and keep in touch on there or email me anytime shell.turner@live.com.au or check out my challenge site Challenge Heaven.   I'm sure I'll still blog at random times through the year but not on a regular basis.

Thank you for all the lovely comments you leave me, until next time,
Shell  xx

Nespresso love.....

It's chilly and rainy here and I've spent the morning hanging out with my family, chatting, reading and drinking gorgeous cappucino's from my lovely little nespresso christmas present.  I've had far too many but I just can't stop, I'm in love :)

Alphabet Weekends

I'm currently reading a book called Alphabet Weekends by Elizabeth Noble. I started reading it a year ago and couldn't get into it but have picked it up again and I'm really enjoying it this time round. It spurred a fun discussion in my family about doing our own 'Alphabet Weekends'. We laughed so hard at each others suggestions but finally came up with a list that will get us out of the house and spending time together all year round. No doubt I plan to scrap these little adventures of ours and look forward to sharing them here.

We're doing 'A' in a couple of weeks and will continue with it every fortnight or so until the end of the year. I'm sure this will be a really fun album to look back on.

One Little Word - 2011

My word for 2011 is balance.

If you work & study too much then your relationships suffer. Exercise too much and your body doesn't have time to recover. Play (or scrap) too much and your productivity suffers. Eat too much and you'll gain weight. Try too hard and your spontaneity suffers. And on and on and on.  This year I am going to try really hard to find the balance that suits me and my little family.

My goals this year are as follows:

Personal:
  • lose the excess weight and get fit again - who's with me?
  • Get a cleaner so I have more time with the family
  • Don't forget any birthdays (this is a recurring goal)
  • Save for an overseas trip
  • Learn more about photography - I have loved learning about it and want to do more

 Professional:

  •  Finish my real estate licence before the end of the year rather than the time frame allowed.

 Scrappy:
  • This one is simple....make time to scrap
  • Get in front of the camera more

 All of these things require balance....what's your word for 2011????
